Sona Comstar's Q2 FY27 call, held on 26 October 2026, was described by management as almost a perfect quarter.

Revenue rose 35% to a record ₹1,546 crore, EBITDA rose 23% to ₹356 crore and profit after tax rose 29% to ₹223 crore. Electric vehicle revenue grew 129% and passed half of automotive sales for the first time, led by a near 50% jump in traction motors. That mix, along with costlier steel, copper, oil derivatives and freight, cut EBITDA margin to 23%, 2.3 points lower than a year ago, and the margin recovery promised from cost pass-through did not show.

Management kept its 23% to 25% range. The order book is ₹251 billion, three new products were launched, a Denso joint venture carve-out is targeted for December, and first-half free cash flow was ₹446 crore. Robotics and physical AI orders are about 4% of the order book, and management would not name a year when that business takes off, saying only that the curve will be very steep. Of 12 earlier promises, two were met, four are on track, one was missed, two are not yet visible and three were not mentioned.
