NTPC delivered steady profit growth in Q3 FY26, with standalone PAT rising 5.85% year-on-year to ₹4,987 crore despite a marginal 1.5% decline in total income to ₹41,673 crore.

The company achieved record capacity addition of 6,615 MW in ten months, the highest ever, comprising thermal, renewable, and pumped storage projects. NTPC Green Energy (NGEL) is on track to add 5,000 MW in FY26, with 2,600 MW already commissioned, and has set ambitious targets of 8,000 MW annually for FY27 and FY28. Working capital improved significantly, with receivable days reducing to 26 days from 34 days, aided by DISCOM profitability turnaround from a loss of ₹25,553 crore to profit of ₹2,700 crore.

The SHANTI Nuclear Act opens new growth avenues for nuclear capacity expansion through technology partnerships with EDF France and Rosatom. Management remains confident about long-term demand growth despite near-term softness, with curtailment issues at NGEL now completely resolved following transmission line commissioning.
